The Torus Miniature Spectrometer is a Visible range (360-825 nm) unit that delivers low stray light and is ideal for measuring color. Its increased sensitivity and throughput also make is perfect for low light level applications. The concave grating helps to improve thermal stability of the Torus. Wavelength drift is nearly eliminated and peak shape stays the same over a wide temperature range.

As a result, Torus makes possible precision metrology, fluorescence and absorbance applications with demanding stray light and thermal stability requirements. Torus is the perfect solution for a wide range of applications where low stray light, high throughput and thermal stability are necessary:
  • Trace gas amounts in the atmosphere
  • Absorbance of optically dense solutions
  • Precision measurement of LEDs, lasers and other light sources
  • Medical dosimetry in tissue and biological media
  • Fluorescence from solid surfaces and backscattering/fluorescence in solutions and powders

Labpshere Introduces New Software for Sunscreens’ Tests

BFi OPTiLAS’ team, Labsphere representative in France, Germany, Italy, Nordics and Spain, is proud to announce, in addition to its UV-2000S Transmittance Analyzer for Sunscreens, the availability of a new software routine allowing sunscreens to be characterized per the latest global in-vitro testing standards.

The UV-2000S Transmittance Analyzer benchtop R&D system is designed to rapidly measure the spectral transmittance of sunscreen products, especially those with very high Sun Protection Factors (SPF 50+), as well as UVA/UVB protection factor. Its application software automatically converts measurement data to provide the Sun Protective Factor (SPF), UVA to UVB ratio, critical wavelength (COLIPA 2009), Boot Star Rating, UVA I/UV ratio (FDA proposed rule) and UVA-PF (COLIPA Method).

The platform allows users to view, archive, retrieve and export data for measurements on both bare substrates and product substrates and supports evolving regional methods. The most recent software is supplied with new purchases of the UV-2000S and current users can upgrade with subscription-based updates.

Ocean Optics: Miniature NIR Spectrometers

NIRQuest spectrometers are ideal for applications ranging from analyzing moisture content in food and beverage products to analyzing trace metals in wastewater.

BFi OPTiLAS' team, thanks to its pan-European collaboration with Ocean Optics, is very proud to announce the latest improvements to its range of NIRQuest miniature NIR Spectrometers.

The new generation of NIRQuest delivers 20% higher throughput, improved sensitivity and up to 3x better noise performance over previous NIR spectrometers. Plus, with more options, external triggering and excellent signal-to-noise performance, NIRQuest is the smart, flexible solution to your NIR analysis needs. With higher throughput, the system is more sensitive.

For some applications, that means shorter integration times are needed to collect signal. NIRQuest provides greater sensitivity in both its 512- and 256-element versions. Higher sensitivity allows you to integrate for longer periods with less noise interference and provides better signal-to-noise performance. For the NIRQuest512, we measured Noise Equivalent Power (NEP) of <0.5 picoWatts at 1550 nm with 100 ms integration time. For the NIRQuest256-2.5, we measured NEP of ~25 picowatts at 2050 nm with 30 ms integration time.
